▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ OVERVIEW ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
DoorMan is a complete Doors Management package. Including a Doors Menu
Door, Menu Editor, Bat File Creator, Statistics Bulletin Generator, Door
File Converter and optional Statistics Graphing Program. Although it will
run on just about any BBS system, it was developed for a fellow SysOp who
is running WildCat! 3.0. Therefore, it has special support for that
particular BBS package in that the graphing program (DMGraph) will create
bulletins using WildCat! 3.0 control codes, and the Door will read and
write the UserInfo.Dat file Wildcat creates. However, if you aren't
running WildCat! 3.0, don't worry, it will also create ANSI and ASCII
bulletins and use 6 different caller info files!
This document covers the legalities, support, and update information for
the entire package as well as installation, registration, and BBS Support
information for the door itself. If you have questions about
adding/editing/removing doors in the menus, then refer to DOOREDIT.DOC. If
you have questions regarding bulletins and graphs, then consult the
DMGRAPH.DOC.
For the remainder of this document, unless stated otherwise, DoorMan refers
to the door itself and not the entire package.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ FEATURES ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
* Supports WildCat!, Quick BBS, Remote Access, RBBS-PC, Spitfire,
T.A.G, Gap, Renegade, and a number of other BBS systems without
the need for converters.
* NO config files to create! All the information is entered into
DoorEdit the first time you run it!.
* Built-in Caller Info File converter. DoorMan will create any
of the six files it recognizes. All you have to do is tell it
what file a door wants when you add it to the menu.
* Built-in Bat File creator. When you add a door, you simply
tell DoorMan the commands to run the door and it will create
the bat file (including directory changing from its directory
to the door's directory and back again.) and delete it when
the user returns.
* Full security level based access to everything! Everything
includes Categories, Doors, Scores, and Graphs. With
categories and doors, you decide whether or not they are
"hidden" from users who do not have access. If hidden, the
user will not see them in the menus. If un-hidden, the user
will see the option, but it will have a red X beside it and
they will not be allowed access to it.
* Sysop configurable Title and Goodbye screens for the door and
opening screens for each door in the menus.
* Built-in scoreboards. You simply define an ANSI and ASCI screen
for each door in the menus. Then, the user simply points to a
door with the cursor and hits "S" for scores.
* Full ANSI and ASCII and WildCat! 3.0 Support.
* Function key to force user back to the BBS including an optional
SysOp configurable "booted" message.
* Function key to Hang Up on a user with optional sysop configurable
"your gone" message.
* Function keys to change the user's time.
* Built in Chat Mode (may evolve into Split Screen)
* Function key to shell to DOS
* Multi-tasker support! The door itself will detect if it's
being run under DESQView, Top View, Windows 3.0, OS/2, or
Double Dos and will give up it's time slices.
* Full carrier monitoring.
* 2 Minute no input timeout protection with a 30 second
warning.
* Full BBS, NetMail, and Voice support. (Demo or Registered)
* Full Multi-Node support. Including ability to limit each
door to certain nodes. If a node does not have access to
a door, the door will not show up in the menu.
* Comprehensive activity logging including User names. Sysop
configurable of course.
* Command Stacking - If enabled by you, users may specify up
to 5 doors to enter in sequence. Between each door the
user will be informed of their time remaining and prompted
to continue or abort.
* Sysop Configurable "Max Time In Door" for each door.
* Ability to limit doors to 9600+ baud rates only. (This
is in preparation for future Bland Software doors. That's
where I'm headed next is 9600+ specific doors, lots of
graphics and animation!)
* Seven different menu styles to choose from for each category.
(more will be added, if you've got an idea send it to me)
Also, there is a Random option which will choose a style at
random each time the menu is displayed (including Refresh).
* Support for all combinations of arrow keys. Grey ones, white
ones, or 2 and 8 for the non-ansi users.
* Ability to ignore SysOp's usage in the Logs, Bulls, and Graphs.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ MEMORY REQUIREMENTS ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
I am glad to report that starting with this version, DoorMan requires a
grand total of 25K of memory on top of any door you are running. Not bad
considering the last version required 36K an the first version required
118K huh?
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ BBS SUPPORT ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
DoorMan will recognize and CREATE the following caller info files:
* CALLINFO.BBS
* DOOR.SYS
* DORINFOx.DEF
* SFDOORS.DAT
* CHAIN.TXT
* PCBOARD.SYS
All files have been tested with the Renegade BBS Package (8-27 Beta
Version) and have been found to work flawlessly. The routine to convert
any one file to any other file has been tested by comparing the created
file to files created by Renegade BBS and DoorMaster, and by using the
created files to run a number of doors on my BBS. If you have a problem
with a file, first try running the door with a different one if that is not
possible, then contact me and I'll see what I can do about fixing it!.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ WARRANTY ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
This product is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. This
includes, but is not limited to, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY and
WARRANTIES OF FIT FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The entire risk as to the
results and performance of the program is assumed by you the user.
Furthermore, I the author do not warrant, guarantee, or make any
representations regarding the use of, or the results of the use of the
program, and you rely on the program and results solely at your own risk.
I the author will not accept responsibility for system damage, loss of
profit, loss of data, or any other special, incidental, or consequential
damages resulting from the use or inability to use this product.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ THE LEGAL STUFF ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Upon registration, you do not become owner of the software. I the author
retain all rights to the software, copies of the software, and other
related materials. All rights not specifically granted in this license are
reserved by the author.
Failure to comply with this license can and will result in suspension and
removal of your registration without refund and may result in legal action.
The DoorMan package is distributed under the SHAREWARE concept. Under the
concept you may use the unregistered evaluation version for a reasonable
time period. After this time, you must either register your copy or
discontinue usage.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ REGISTRATION ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
The distribution copy of DoorMan is not limited in any way! It contains no
annoyance screens, pauses, or incentives to register! However, it is
Keyed. Therefore, you will be provided with 32 days to try the program out
and decide if you feel it is worth registering.
If you decide the product is worth the registration fee, all you have to do
is send me a check (or money order) and I'll send you a registered/non-
expiring key. This Key will be good for this version of DoorMan AND all
future versions as well, there is no extra charge for upgrading!
Once registered, you are entitled to as many updates as you want to
download. If there is a newer version available when you register, I will
make sure you know about it and any changes made. Then, if you want it,
you can call my system, or any system that has it for that matter, and
download it. The latest version will always be available via File Request
or download from my system.
Please note: The $30 registration fee for DoorMan DOES NOT include he
registration for DMGraph! This is an optional program
and must be registered separately! Why? Because not all
SysOp's want the ability to graph door activity. Why
charge those who don't want it?
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ SUPPORT ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
I would like to ensure those who decide to register this program that
all my programs supported by me to the best of my ability. If you have any
problems with one of my programs I will attempt to remedy them as quickly
as possible.
Support for any of my programs (registered and unregistered alike) can be
obtained by calling The Bumpkinland BBS, through NetMail, by calling me
personally by voice, or by regular Mail. Please see the end of this
document for addresses and phone numbers.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ INSTALLATION ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
I have made every attempt to make installation of all my programs as
painless as possible. Simply run the DoorEdit program and answer ALL
the questions it presents you with. Once you've answered them the first
time, you can always go back an change ANYTHING. However, the first
time through you need to answer as many as possible. Especially those
dealing with directories and Node configuration. Then invoke the program
from a bat file as follows:
CD <Path to Door>
DOORMAN x <*=- where x is the node number.
CD <Path to BBS>
<Restart your system>
That's it!
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ FILES IN THE ARCHIVE ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Files contained in the archive:

DOOREDIT.DOC Its Document
UPGRADE .DOC Info on upgrading from v2.01
DMV2-V3 .EXE Utility to read your v2.01 files and create v3.0 files
Files created by the program:
DOORMAN .ERR Hopefully you'll never see one of these!
DOORMAN .DAT Data file used by DMGraph (Created by DoorMan)
DOORMAN .LOG Activity log. (Detailed Later)
DMCATS .DAT Database containing Category information
DMDOORS .DAT Database containing Doors information
DMBCMDS .DAT Database containing the Run Commands for the Doors
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ THE LOG FILE ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
This log will *NOT* be created unless it is enabled in the config.
If enabled, it is a ruled PRN file which is easily readable by any text
editor and importable into just about any spreadsheet or database program.
Each and every time a door is entered or the Graphs are viewed, an entry is
added to this log. Therefore, it will continue to grow! I pondered
whether or not to automatically control the size of the file but decided
against it. This is due to the fact I am not able to predict how far back
any one SysOp might want to keep stats. So, if the file starts to get too
big, simple edit out the first few entries, or, delete the file. If you
delete the file, DoorMan will start a new one the next time a door is
entered. The format for each entry in the file, with the exception of
"viewed graphs" entries, is as follows:
Date Node Door Name User Name Time Entered Time Exited Min in Door
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ NOTES OF INTEREST ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
This door DOES NOT require any monitoring program for dropped carrier, it
automatically detects this and exits back to the BBS.
This door DOES NOT require any runtime modules to run. It is run as is
without any aid from outside utilities.
This door DOES NOT require a FOSSIL driver!
In the event of an error, the program has built in error handling routines
which should prevent it from locking the system up. It should log the
error to an ERR file and then exit normally.
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ UPDATE INFORMATION ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
The newest version of any of my programs can be obtained by calling The
Bumpkinland BBS and downloading, by File Requesting using the magic name
DOORMAN for this program), or by download from the Mustang Software Sysop's
BBS.
